Elvis Meets The Beatles – Pool
In the summer of 1964, the Beatles met their idol Elvis Presley in Los Angeles. The meeting was arranged by Elvis’s manager, Joe Esposito. It was not publicized. There were no journalists or members of the press present. There were no photographers and no photos were take by anyone to commemorate the occasion.
When the German Bauer Verlag commissioned me to create two paintings, my wife Christina spent one year researching this meeting in depth and I spoke with Ringo, Paul and Joe Esposito, who described their own memories, including details like the pool table and the jukebox. I was able to arrange an interview with Priscilla Presley who gave us photographs of the house where the legendary meeting took place.
I chose a photorealistic technique to paint Elvis and the Beatles.
